First Time at the Park

It was our little one’s first time at McKinney Falls State Park two weeks ago. It was a nice, sunny day and there were a lot of people at the upper falls.

Of course, we did some birding during our brief walk and I think she enjoyed it. What do you think? πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The first birds we saw were juvenile American robins. We saw about twelve birds feeding on a particular bush.

The exciting part of the day was spotting a summer tanager. This was the first time I’ve seen one this year since we didn’t bird much during my pregnancy and when we had our little one.

Of course, we saw some more birds. Here’s a downy woodpecker.

It was definitely an enjoyable walk.

  1. Hello, looks like a great park for a walk and for some birding. Your daughter is adorable! I love the Summer Tanager and the cute juvie Robin, Bluebird and the woodie. Wonderful photos! Thank you in advance for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

  2. Hi Shey. You have some lovely shots of the American Robins there. And of course the tanager and the downy.

Bird populations are down in many parts of the world. The whys and wherefores are complex and not fully understood but a general simplification would be that it man’s effect on the environment in many cases. Overpopulation, changes in agriculture, pressure on wild places etc. Try this – http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art31304.asp

Thanks for coming by today and for your kind words. I will visit you as soon as I can. Have a fantastic day and don't forget to smile. ~ Shey
